Crankshaft Position Sensor

A sensor that detects the rotational speed and position of the crankshaft.

The crankshaft position sensor generates signals used by the ECU to control ignition timing and fuel injection synchronization. Without it, the engine cannot start or will misfire severely. Magnetic or Hall-effect types read a toothed wheel attached to the crankshaft. Faults often trigger DTCs like P0335. Testing involves measuring signal voltage or using an oscilloscope for waveform analysis. Regular inspection ensures consistent starting and performance reliability.
